Today was a bit less eventful than other days. As I mentioned earlier, we had some airline issues, but they've been resolved. We spent an hour or so this morning on a quest for local whisky. After visiting a grocery store and four or five corner stores, we finally found a wine store that sold whisky that can't be purchased in America. I got a bottle of Caol Ila for me and we got a bottle of Ardbeg for my dad (sorry to anyone else that may have been hoping for a bottle, customs only allows one bottle per person).
Buckingham Palace
After returning the liquor to the hotel, we headed to Buckingham Palace to tour the State Rooms. Unfortunately, we couldn't take any pictures inside the palace, but I do have some pictures of that grounds which I will post tomorrow. I really enjoyed the tour, but one of the more exciting parts for me was seeing a video of recent investitures (bestowments of knighthood) which include the knighting of Sri Patrick Stewart.
Wellington Monument and Covent Garden (again)
Once we left the palace, we walked towards the Hyde Park Corner tube station. On the way, we passed the Wellington Monument and stopped to take some pictures. Via Hyde Park Station, we took the tube to Covent Garden to walk around some more. We wandered the area for a while and stopped at a patisserie for some kind of chocolate and cream thing with a strawberry and a blackberry on top; it was really good, but I don't actually have any idea what it was.
We finished the day by packing at the hotel, watching Independence Day, and, due to the rain, eating at the hotel restaurant. I had a club sandwich and once again (at least I think I mentioned this before), I must say that they have amazing bacon here.
Tomorrow starts very early at 5 AM (which is in six hours); our flight is at 10:05 London time and we should be landing around 1:05PM eastern time.
